A little more about me.

Hi there, I'm Joe Marshall.
For my entire career, I've noticed one thing about myself: I work on problems and help solve them. I'm an product entrepreneur at heart.

I've done everything from working in small to medium sized organizations with the home inspection industry, to really small tech startups, architects, artists, musicians and more.

I discovered Product Management as a discipline when senior leadership saw I could enhance processes and deliverables, work directly with customers, build feedback loops and ultimately enhance the customer experience. Now that I'm in Product Management, I could not imagine myself in a different position.

Helping people solve their real-world, every day problems is what drives me and makes me wake up every day.

I've helped organizations like the largest US home inspection agency (US Inspect) articulate their product vision, rebuild and retool flagship products, participate in and lead Agile teams ( document and improve processes, research and size markets, craft go-to-market launch plans and conduct user and customer interviews. I've also done a few side projects like and Communicare to name two.

My passions are tech, DIY projects, learning, reading, making my own music and discovering new artists, the outdoors, lively discussions, economics, travel, mountain biking, road biking and exercise.

Selected Projects and Success Stories.

These are some of my selected projects. It's a wide variety but it includes some key projects from my previous positions and side project ideas.

Network Notifications

This feature was devised out of market research, user feedback and aligning our own strategic priorities of getting more marketing out of each social-user. What I concepted, scope and wrote acceptance criteria became Network Notifications. After discussing the idea with senior stakeholders, team members and customers, I mockuped up the product demo, obtained feedback, iterated and ultimately scoped, prioritized and established a KPI for this feature. We expected a 20-30% open rate on a cold email. To our amazement, these emails retained (varying on size/market/demographic and content) anywhere from a 45% to 88% open rate, which is almost as high as a text message. Details

US Inspect, Home Inspection Report

I worked with senior stakeholders, field personal, internal customer support staff and customers to obtain feedback, ideas and ultimately using that feedback to concept the next generation of our flagship deliverable, our home inspection report. I developed a design language, mocked up and scoped the project. The results? Customers love them and the Agents love them. We transformed something stale, stagnant and uninspiring to a bright, friendly colorful experience for the prospective homeowner so he or she could make a decision in confidence for one of life's biggest moments.
